Finished x-hatched ink commission for and her mate, Blair :3 Micron and Faber-Castelle pens over non-photo blue pencil on cardstock. I like the glowy effect of inking over the pencil :3
Really pleased with how the hatching on her fur went.. i did the male's arms/legs/face first.. and i hadnt done it recently do i'd kinda forgottten my own technique o.o so they look a little messy to me. BUT after i looked at them, i -remembered- that i should pur down a /flat/ base layer of hatching everywhere to represent a color THEN go in and /shade/ it to varying values.. wtf v's.

This is awesome, you nailed the anatomy and I think you did a wonderful job of shading. I've never really seriously tried cross-hatching, seems a difficult way to shade, and still make it look good. Also, animation pencil (as I call it) is fantastic but I find it doesn't rub out too well XD (I am an animation student) XP

Very nice work. I don't see crosshatching used much anymore. I like the shading on the male more for some reason but it all looks very good.

Oh nice. :) The cross hatching looks nice on this drawing. It's neat to see how you used it to bring out changes in color for the different areas of the body. I like the contrast in the two bodies.

Have you noticed how many people have copy and paste signatures? If it were copy and paste art, it would never fly.

if you sketch and shade in a light blue/non photo blue pencil, and scan in gray scale, it makes the blue look liie smooth subtle shading.
