Snow Patrol by huskie666 Snow Patrol by huskie666
Finished commission for :iconchakat-goldfur: of a Tundra/Polar Stellar Foxtaur and hir husky patrolling the hillsides during a latenight snowfall.
I think i kinda ruined this with the white ink snowflakes.. but the white pencil alone wasn't cutting it :/ next time i might try something like acrylic paint for flakes like this.
Black and white prismacolor pencils, white chalk pastel, and opaque white ink, on grey toned/textured paper.

I think this turned out nice! I do agree about the snowflakes, they are a little too overpowering, but it's not that big of a deal. This looks great. Awesome job! :3

I love the strong lighting and shadows. And hell, black and white just doesn't get enough love. Excellent!

Very nice but I agree with you on the snow flakes. But I don't think that it's ruined I think that the problem is a lack of depth in the snow flakes. You might get a different effect if some of them weren't as brilliant as the ones you have already there. A wonderful atmosphere, particularly the taurr; looking at her I get a great sense of disorientation and of cold.

i think the snow flakes are the best part of the picture, they bring a feeling of lostness and cold to it that makes it feel so much more intimate.

I rather like the look of the snowflakes, the bright white contrasts very well.. And it's nice to see you use black and white values.
Do like,

I disagree! I think the white flakes work perfectly for ones close to the viewer. You could try adding smaller, lighter flakes with a different medium to suggest more distant snowflakes as well, though, if they bother you that much. But I think it looks just fine the way it is. :D I really like the husky's body language. Obviously exhausted, but still quite determined.

Goodness.
Goodness me.

My mind is blown.
This has such a great black/white photo realism to it, yet still definitely in that incredibly gorgeous style of yours (lol, if that makes any sense)

I've wanted to ask, how you've been making this flakes, but you told yet. ^^ I don't think you ruined it with the ink.. you just could make some flakes more white and some more grey, next time you draw something like this. It would look a little more 'deep'.
I like it! Quads are difficult, and the pic shows emotions and action to me.
