The Griffin! Definately my favorite thus far.. her coloration comes from ancient descriptions of Griffins having vermillion breasts and green feathers... though my vermillion isnt quite that brilliant and the green is just on the wingtips -.o but.. i am very satisfied with her, the foreground -especially-.. the background was meant to have a caravan moving between dunes.. but i simply couldn't manage that :/ bah! w/e.

Description, written by me and edited by one of my professors:
"Fearful terror over land and sky, the Griffin has features of the eagle and the lion. Living in mountainous areas, in ancient times Griffins favored spots where valuable gems and ores were plentiful. These they used to line their nests. Sensitive to the vice of greed, Griffins would attack any person who dared quest for these treasures. Enemy of the horse, Griffins have been employed to pull the chariots of gods such as Apollo and Nemesis. Griffins were also appointed as guards of the treasure of the gods. So fierce were they that man later made effigies of them to stand before temples and other places of power. It is said that cups made from the talons of Griffins can detect poison and the feathers, when laid upon blind eyes, can restore sight."
